The worst reception staff I have ever known

I stay in a lot of hotels - one a week usually - and this was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in - and not because of the hotel itself, although for a 3 night stay it would have been nice if the towels were change at least once 😖 The rooms were nice - we had a junior suite - it was basic but ok for the price in this city. The 2 guys in reception though need to be fired - the older guy in the yellow sweater and the black guy, Lemin (or something like that). I have never met ruder, more horrible people ever - let alone in the hospitality industry. I was a woman travelling on my own with my daughter - and the black guy yelled and shouted at me, calling me the F word and was very menacing because I questioned why our room wasn’t ready at 3pm (the check in time). The manager actually had to ask him to walk away at one point - i have never felt so unsafe and genuinely had no idea why he reacted that way. The manager was no better, a pathetic immature man - when he heard I was asking why our room wasn’t ready, his response was to say ‘lm going to make sure you have to wait even longer now!’ I asked for the name of the hotel owner so I could contact him to make him aware of the problems I was having - he lied and said the owner was ‘Chris’ and I should email him (the manager) and he would pass it on. It then transpired he is Chris! When I pushed further for the owners details - Chris turned super nice and sorted our room asap and completely changed his demeanour to chatty and nice. No apology was made though, and didn’t/wouldn’t provide the owners details. I have since easily found out this is Arjen van den Hof of Vondel Hotels. If I hadn’t stupidly prepaid for our stay - I would have left straight away. I travel a lot as a lone female, and never have I felt so scared and intimidated as I did here - we slept with a chair up against the door, speed past reception each morning, and dreaded returning each day. I couldn’t wait to leave. I may have been unfortunate to experience isolated incidents - there are some good reviews for this hotel … but, if I were reading this and contemplating staying at this hotel - I’d be thinking why would I take the chance …

Hotel Roemer is in a great location with a convenience store close by, Starbucks, restaurants, and food stores a few blocks away. Very easy to access the tram and just over the bridge you are in the Museum area. The hotel had welcoming staff, clean rooms with comfortable beds. Be aware there are steep steps to the annex building but an elevator once inside. In general, Amsterdam has limited access for those who are handicapped or have mobility issues.

Make sure you understand the use of the eating area, Also what is complimentary and what will cost you if you consume any slim options of foods.

the hotel is not clean, the carpet is dirty, walls had leaks before and they did not bother to repaint and make it look better. The hotel doesn't supply dresser or places to put your luggage for easy access. No fridge as well. Would not recommend.
